John Salvi
John “Futta” Salvi, 94, of Canonsburg, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 3, 2023, at the Greenery in North Strabane Township.
Born in Canonsburg on February 28, 1928, to the late Ilario and Margherita Salvi, Mr. Salvi was a member Saint Patrick’s Church of Saint Oscar Romero Parish.
He proudly served with the United States National Guard in Korea.
John had been a successful Standardbred horse trainer for many years at The Meadows, and Pompano Park in Florida. He was a founding member of the Meadows Standard Bred Owners Association, and a member of the VFW Post 191 of Canonsburg and the American Legion of Houston.
His beloved wife, Carol Ann Harker, passed away in March of 2018. Deceased, in addition to his wife and parents are: brother, Nick Salvi, who was killed in World War II; two sisters, Rose Rubis (Charles) and Ann (Paul) Clark.
Left behind to cherish his memory are: his son, Nick Salvi of Canonsburg; and his daughter, Barbary Salvi Sanderson of Thornville, Ohio; along with grandchildren, Cody, Carly and Cecilia; and niece, Sharon Franconeri.
