After suffering an unexpected collapse near his residence in Washington, Joseph Adamik was pronounced dead at Allegheny General Hospital Monday, June 5, 2023. Following an autopsy, the cause of death remains unknown.

Joseph was precisely the sort of person whose presence was impossible not to miss. Adamik lived largely and beautifully, leaving those he met all the better for it.

Jo was born to Joseph “Joey” and Lisa Cook Adamik in Cambridge, Ohio, January 20, 1994.

After graduating from Meadowbrook High School in 2012, Jo pursued a career in management and human resources. Most recently, he served as the HR director at Keystone Basement Systems. Jo’s work employed his natural talents for taking charge, lighting people up, and offering security and joy.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dale and Barbara Cook, and Joseph Adamik Sr.

Jo is survived by his husband, Nathan Vargo-Adamik; his parents, Joseph “Joey” and Lisa Adamik; his siblings, Benjamin (Samantha) Jerles, Emily Jerles (Lindsay), and Evan Adamik (Hannah); his grandmother, Dorothy Adamik; his nieces and nephews, Ava, Sophie, Belle, Briar, Olive, Colt, and Parker; his aunts and uncles, Dave Cook, Cheryl (Tim) Coulter, Mike Adamik, Matt Adamik, and Max Adamik; and his cousins, Zac (Jen) Coulter and Kelli (Mike) Haney; as well as the Vargo family.

Although Jo’s life on Earth was cut far too short, his generous spirit lives on through the donation and successful transplant of his organs and tissue.

Friends and family will gather to celebrate the life of Joseph Adamik at intimate gatherings in Pleasant City, Ohio and Washington in the final week of June.

Jo was an old soul with a wisdom expanding beyond his 6’4″ and 29 years. Tattooed on the side of his ankle were the words: “Death is only the beginning.” Joseph Adamik’s loving memory will always permeate the lives he touched both during and beyond his earthly stay.
