Jean Danna
Jean Danna, 98, of Avella, passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 20, 2023, in Country Meadows South Hills, Bridgeville.
She was born May 25, 1925, in Midway, a daughter of the late Walter and Dominica Czyz Gevenosky.
Mrs. Danna was a lifelong resident of Avella and was Catholic by faith. For many years she worked at American Foods, retiring when the business closed its doors.
Jean was a hardworking and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, who was famous for her hospitality and spaghetti; her door was always open for her family to come share a meal.
On October 20, 1942, in Washington, she married Antonio Nino Danna, who passed away May 27, 1995.
Surviving are three children, Walter (Margaret) Danna, Daris “Cheech” (Ken) Gavazzi, both of Avella, Nancy Carl of Canonsburg; 13 grandchildren, Tony Miller, Michael A. Danna, Brian Danna, Kimberly Veltri, Kenneth (Amy) Gavazzi, Ken (Marilyn) Carl, Tim (Kate) Carl, Michael J. (Kelly) Danna, Melanie (Joseph) Dhans, Justin Danna, Shawn (Alicia) Danna, Melissa (Brien) Cross and Mark (Leah) Danna; 30 great- grandchildren, Kimber, Julien, Destiny, Nicholas, Brett, Allison, Alexa, Hunter, McKenna, Bailey, Mark, Cameron, Matthew, Jessica, Zach, Haley, Jacob, Dylan, Garrett, Riley, Jessica, Justin Jr., Max, Ava, Ana, Cole, Taylor, Mia, Sienna and Peyton; a great-great-granddaughter, Adelaide; three sisters, Pauline Wojcik of Avella, Felicia (Ralph) Dagnana of Hickory and Stella Cherenko of Cross Creek; two daughters- in-law, Esther Danna and Patty Terhorst; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to her husband of 52 years and parents, are two sons, Ronald and Michael J. Danna; a great-grandson, Joey Dhans, Jr.; three sisters, Laura Strunga, Wanda Cruny and Helen Fitz; six brothers, Walter Jr., Chester, Theodore, Constant, Roman and her twin brother, Edward Gevenosky.
Friends and family will be received from 2 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 22, in the Jerome A. Stefkovich Funeral Home Inc., 18 Campbell Street, Avella, PA 15312, where a Blessing Service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 23, with the Rev. Harry Bielewicz officiating.
Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery, Avella.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Avella Volunteer Fire Department.
