David Merritt Hammond, 75, of Morgantown, W.Va., died Tuesday, March 7, 2023, in the Unity Manor Apartments, in Morgantown.
He was born July 14, 1947, in Washington, a son of the late Merritt and Helen Bonham Hammond.
He was a graduate of West Virginia University, where he was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity and organizer of its yearly reunion of the Iota Lambda Zeta chapter.
He is survived by his ex-wife, Louise Randolph Humphreys and their sons, Lawson W. Hammond of Pittsburgh and his partner Kelly Andresen, and Davisson M. Hammond of Mars, his wife, Monica Passaniti, and their son, Reid and daughter, Quintin; and sister-in-law, Joyce Hammond of Washington.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Daniel Hammond; and sister, Judith Ellen Hammond.
Friends and family will be received from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Saturday, July 15, at a memorial gathering in Smith Funeral & Cremation Care, 108 Holland Avenue, Westover / Morgantown. A luncheon will immediately follow at a separate location.
