Joyce Ann Heflin Nichols
Joyce Ann Heflin Nichols, 70, of Claysville, passed away Sunday night, March 26, 2023, in Washington Hospital, from health complications.
Joyce was born and raised in Haywood, W.Va., a daughter of the late William and June Minor Heflin.
Joyce retired from Presbyterian Senior Care, where she worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant for many years.
Known as “Mama/Gram Joyce” to most, she enjoyed spending time with her family; she gave all the love she had to her family and loved ones. She enjoyed cooking as much as everyone enjoyed her food.
As an animal lover, she wouldn’t let a stray go hungry. Her heart and sass were the core of her being. She will be loved and missed by all.
Surviving are her son, Eric (Misty) Stout; her daughter, Serena Stout (Danny); her grandchildren, Jennifer McMasters (Teddy), Kaley, Ethan and Addie Stout; two great-grandchildren, Makenzie Rubin and Wyatt Kovacic; three brothers, Arless (Tom) Heflin, John (Eileen) Heflin and Danny (Tammy) Heflin.
Also surviving are her sisters-in-law, Paula Heflin, Donna Danziger; and her stepchildren, Rick (Margie) Grace, Sharon (Kenny) Moschell, Carol Grace (Nancy), David (Kim) Grace and their children; as well as many extended family and friends including many nieces and nephews.
Joyce was preceded in death by her son, Douglas Stout; her granddaughter, Makayla Miller; her long-time partner, Richard Grace; her stepfather, William McClain; and her brother, James Heflin.
At Joyce’s request, there will be no services. A memorial dinner will be planned for a later date.
Arrangements are in the care of DeAngelo Funeral Home in Washington. A tribute wall is available at www.deangelocare.com.
