Penelope Woods Elliott

Penelope Woods Elliott, 79, of Washington, died Sunday, October 29, 2023, in the Washington Hospital.

She was born February 25, 1944, in Fayette County, a daughter of the late Samuel W. and Patti Palmer Woods.

Penelope graduated from Washington High School in 1962.

In her earlier years, she worked as a telephone operator at Snyder Answering Service. She later worked as a waitress and greeter for Eat ‘N Park in Washington, from which she retired. During her time there, she even wore the Smiley Cookie costume at several functions in town.

Penelope was strong in her faith and was an active member of Legacy Church International.

Surviving is one son, Duncan C. (Donal) MacPhail; a daughter, Darsey C. (Joe) Moon; four brothers: David Woods, Charles Woods, Richard (Linda) Woods and William Woods, all of Washington; a sister, Vicki Schroeder; two grandchildren, Jynessa Alexander and Shaun Berdine; two great-grandchildren, Jaxson Alexander and Adrienne O’Neil; and many nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to her parents, are two brothers, Anthony Woods and Lawrence Woods; and a granddaughter, Jacqulyn Elliott.

All services were private and entrusted to Piatt and Barnhill Funeral Directors, Inc., Charles R. Piatt, owner / supervisor and Andrew C. Piatt, Director.
