Floyd Edwin Beatty
Floyd Edwin Beatty, 85, of Claysville, passed away, Saturday, November 4, 2023, in Washington Hospital.
He was born May 31, 1938, in Washington, a son of the late Charles and Sadie Daugherty Beatty.
Floyd moved to Claysville in 2002 from Streetsboro, Ohio. He graduated from West Greene High School in 1958.
Floyd married Mona Lou Martin April 4, 1970, and they were happily married for 53 years.
He was drafted into the United States Army June 26, 1962, where he served for five years and was honorably discharged September 30, 1967. While enlisted, he received a good conduct medal and a medal for being an expert sharpshooter.
Floyd was employed with the A.M. Castle Medal in Bedford, Ohio as a burner for 32 years until his retirement in 2002.
He enjoyed hunting, gardening, and working jigsaw puzzles. Floyd loved his nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two brothers, Clarence (Shirley) Beatty, and Donald (MaryLou) Beatty, both of Claysville; a brother-in-law, Henry Reedy; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Clyde Elmer, Robert and Kenneth Beatty; two sisters, Blanche Beatty Sprowls and Florence Beatty Reedy; three siblings in infancy, Ruth, Charles and Harold.
Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, November 9, in Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home, LLC., 3275 W. Roy Furman Hwy., Rogersville, PA 15359, Telephone: 724-499-5181, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, November 10, with the Rev. Jill Briggs officiating. Burial will follow at Greene County Memorial Park, with full military honors conducted by the United States Army and the Greene County Honor Guard.
