David Richard Worobec Sr.
David Richard Worobec Sr., 88, of Avella died unexpectedly Thursday, September 28, 2023.
He was born June 24, 1935, in Deep Creek, Md., to the late Walter and Leah Groves Worobec. After his father’s passing, his mother remarried to the late Howard Breese.
In December of 1952, David graduated from Alhambra High School in Alhambra, Calif.
On January 24, 1955, he joined the United States Navy. He completed his enlistment December 15, 1956, as a Seaman First Class.
On March 21, 1959, he married Mary E. Ullom Worobec, who passed away December 20, 2021, and with whom he made his home for 62 years.
On May 4, 1959, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served in the Vietnam War. He retired as a Master Sargent September 30, 1977.
He loved his family, hunting, fishing, talking about his military career to anyone who would listen, Steelers football and going to the Pirates games with his grand daughters and great- grandson.
He is survived by his daughter, Lynn Kulla of Washington; son, David R. Worobec, Jr. of Canonsburg; and daughter, Kathy Jo Morris of Avella; grandchildren, Christopher (Stefanie) Kulla, Carissa Worobec, Brandy (Jim) Steenson, Cody Kulla, Annissa Worobec, James Morris, Jordan Morris, Leah Kilpatrick, and David R. Worobec, III. Also surviving are great-grandchildren, Taylor, Allison, Kaylor, Lexie, Brayden, Logan, Hensley, Olivia, Theo and Cecilia.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his great- granddaughter, Payton.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, October 1, in the Dale D. DeAngelo Funeral Home, 1290 Jefferson Avenue, Washington, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 2, with Jill Briggs, pastor of Rolling Hills Chapel, Timber Lake Road, officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens in McMurray, where Full Military Honors will be provided by the United States Air Force and American Legion Post #174 Honor Guard.
