John Perry Jones
John Perry Jones, 72, of Washington, died Saturday, October 7, 2023, surrounded by his family. He was under the care of Concordia Hospice.
He was born on July 11, 1951, in Canonsburg, to the late Norman and Olive Jones.
John was a 1969 graduate of Canon-Macmillan High School.
He worked at McDonald’s, Ft. Pitt Bridgeworks and Western Center / Mayview throughout his life. He retired from Mayview in 2008.
While at home, he enjoyed gardening and playing his daily numbers. When it came to sports, John enjoyed watching professional baseball and football and participating in the family “Pick ‘Em” league. He could often be found at the ball fields watching his grandchildren play baseball or softball. He also loved playing cards and cornhole with his family.
John was an aficionado of “Oldies” music.
John cherished his time spent fishing, hunting and camping at Bells Lake and hunting in East Finley, with his son and brothers.
He was known fondly as “Papa Jones” by many of his children’s friends.
John is survived by his wife, Pamela, whom he married in 1977; his children, Donna (Derek) Maceiko, Samuel (Katie) Jones and Michelle Jones; and grandchildren, Haylea and Chase Maceiko.
He is also survived by his siblings, Carolyn Shady, John Lee Jones, Anita Bell, Patti Kolsosky, and Richard Jones; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
John had several beloved pets throughout his life who precede him in death, most recently, his beloved dog, Lacie.
A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date. Pastor Ross Pryor will officiate a private family service. All other services are private and entrusted to Piatt and Barnhill Funeral Directors, Inc., Charles R. Piatt, owner / supervisor, Andrew C. Piatt, director.
