Helen Gloria Kuhn
Helen Gloria Kuhn, 95, of Washington, passed away Sunday, October 8, 2023, in Paramount Senior Living, Peters Township.
She was born November 10, 1927, in Washington, a daughter of the late Charles and Louise Daka Gura.
She was a graduate of Washington High School Class of 1946.
As a mother and grandmother, she enjoyed spending time with her family, whom she loved dearly.
Helen was a homemaker who enjoyed flower gardening and decorating.
She was an avid bird watcher and proud to be a participant in the annual W&J Christmas bird count. She was very creative and artistic, and loved oil painting, ceramics and other artwork and crafts. She also enjoyed reading and fashion.
Sears Department Store employed her as a division manager for 10 years in its Washington store.
She was a lifelong member of St. Hilary Church in Washington, where she married her husband, Donald L. Kuhn, February 3, 1947. Donald preceded her in death July 1, 2017, after 70 years of marriage.
She was an active member of St. Hilary Christian Mothers having served twice as past president. She was also a Eucharistic Minister at St. Hilary for many years. Helen was a life member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority since 1972, and was proud to have been voted “Girl of the Year” five times.
She was proud to have been selected to be a judge of the Miss West Virginia Pageant.
Surviving are two daughters, Linda (Jim Donahue) Liggett of Bethel Park, Denise (Charles) Morrison of Peters Township; and two sons, Donald (Darlene) Kuhn, Jr. of Avella and Arizona, and Dennis (Patti) Kuhn of Florida; along with five grandchildren, Jason Liggett, Heather Charlier, Jennifer (Andrew) Allen, Nathan Morrison and Rachel Morrison, and four great- grandchildren, Connor Taggart, Samara Charlier, Luke Allen and Dean Allen; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Esther Stein, Anna Marie Jesse and Arthilla Rescinitti; and two brothers, Charles Gura and Arthur Gura.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no visitation.
All are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, October 13, in St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church, 320 Henderson Avenue, Washington. Entombment will follow in the Washington Cemetery Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Washington County Humane Society.
