Alma Jean Sim, 92, of Washington, died on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, in Washington Hospital.

She was born on November 8, 1930, in Washington, a daughter of the late Arthur and Anna Meyer Martin.

A graduate of Washington High School, Alma was a member of First Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir for over 20 years.

Mrs. Sim enjoyed all genres of music, and loved singing and theater. She enjoyed reading and bible study. Alma was a fantastic cook, who loved creating delicious meals for her friends and family. She had a love for all animals, and adored her dog, Sandy.

A woman with a huge heart, Alma was kind, and generous, and was happiest when spending time with her beloved family and friends.

On June 9, 1950, she married Michael A. Sim, who died on April 6, 2012. They had celebrated 61 years of marriage.

Surviving are two sons, Michael M. Sim, of Claysville, and David A. (Mary Lynn) Sim, of Washington; two daughters, Deborah S. Sim, of Lawrence, and Cynthia D. Sim Walter, of Saxonburg; a twin sister, Elma (Bert) June Lerby, and Martha (the late Joe) Kirschner; 11 grandchildren, Michael A. Sim, Jenette M. Sim, Tyler (Dez) Sim, Sean Sim, Anastasia (Zackary) Sim, Sarah (Terry) Rodi, Nicholas Rodi, Angela Kelly, Gregory (Kristi) Walter, Emma (Michael) Gielata, and Paige (Adam) Pavelchick; seven great-grandchildren, Evelyn Kelly, Genevieve Kelly, Shiloh Garove, Ellis Garove, Gregory Walter, Reese Gielata, Penn Gielata, with one on the way; a sister-in-law, Rosemary Nichols; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are two siblings, Elizabeth Martin and Arthur Martin.

Friends and family are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., on Wednesday, September 6, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, where services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, September 7, with Rev. Steven Dunlap officiating.

Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
