Harry A. Schmitt
Harry A. Schmitt, Ph.D., passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2023, in his Tucson, Ariz., home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Mary Lou Schmitt of Taylorstown.
Dr. Schmitt is survived by two brothers, Mike Schmitt of Delaware, Ohio, and Ray Schmitt of Richmond, Va.; and three sisters, Judy Welch of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., and Margaret and Sally Schmitt of Pittsburgh. He also is survived by two nieces, a nephew and two great-nieces. Harry also leaves behind countless academic and professional peers, whom he generously assisted throughout his career.
Schmitt earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Denver and received his post-graduate degrees in theoretical physics from the University of Arizona.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 16, in Immaculate Conception Church, 119 W. Chestnut Street, Washington.
