Redo H. Celli
Redo H. Celli, 78, of Burgettstown, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 4, 2023, in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital.
He was born on May 22, 1945, in Bulger, a son of the late Peter and Cecelia Guiddy Celli.
After graduating from the Union High School, Burgettstown, in 1963, he attended Duff’s Business School where he studied court stenography.
He worked for P&LE Railroad and retired from Testa Machine Shop, where he was a truck driver. After retiring he worked as a private security officer.
A veteran of the United States Army, he enlisted and served from 1964 to 1967 as a medic with the 26th Infantry, in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged, a recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Medical Badge, Vietnam Service Medal with one Bronze Star and one Vietnam Overseas Bar.
He and his wife, Hughetta, spent their winters in Port Richie, Fla., and summers at Slippery Rock Campgrounds, where he enjoyed calling Bingo and playing pickleball. He also enjoyed music, playing the accordion and keyboard, and playing games and cards with Jack and Renee Chesnic.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Hughetta Jenkins Celli, whom he married on January 25, 1974; his daughter, Melissa Williams (Greg) of Slovan; grandchildren, Tyler Williams, Brooke Williams (Christopher Slasor) and Zoey Holmes; great grandchildren Christopher and Asher Slasor; brothers, Perry Celli (Ellen) of Burgettstown and John Fowler (Charlotte) of Georgia; and several nieces and nephews, who looked up to him like a father figure.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, are his brother, Dominic “Pete” Celli; and sisters, Rosemarie Klimas and Candy Staub.
Family and friends will be received from 1 p.m. until the time of services celebrating his life, with the Reverend Tina Cartwright officiating, at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 16, 2023, in Slater Funeral and Cremation Services of Burgettstown, 73 Highland Avenue, Burgettstown, PA 15021. A luncheon and continuation of fellowship will follow the service at the Slovan VFW.
Inurnment will be held in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville at a later date.
