Viola Fordyce
Viola Fordyce, 89, of Brave, Pa., passed away at 5 a.m. on Monday, September 11, 2023, at home.
She was born October 9, 1933, in Ruff Creek, a daughter of the late Clarence Anderson and Frances Gertrude Rutan Anderson.
Viola used to volunteer with the DAV #123, the Salvation Army and the Greene County Food Bank for many years. She once took 22 kids to Pittsburgh for Project Bundle Up.
She loved spending time with her family and friends and of course, food! She was a homemaker and genuinely enjoyed helping everyone.
Her husband, James Raymond Fordyce, whom she married on October 23, 1973, died on August 19, 2017.
Surviving are seven daughters: Irene Cooke of Waynesburg, Diane Foley of Daybrook, W.Va, Grace Eddy of Aleppo, Cathy Snyder of Clarksville, Carol Gooden of Waynesburg, Carmel Knisely of Waynesburg, and Pam Timm of Waynesburg; six sons: Lloyd Kennedy and special daughter-in-law, Dorothy of New Freeport, Brian Kennedy of Brave, Gary Fordyce of Sycamore, Pat Fordyce of Bentleyville, Kelcey Fordyce of Bentleyville, PA and Danny Fordyce of Bentleyville; 20 grandchildren: Johnny, Jimmy, Roger, Joanie, Kristy, Joe, Angie, Mike, Heather, William, L.J., B.J., Vanessa, Carrie, Brandy, Mandy, Candy, Shawnda, Ashley and Christopher; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; two sisters: Louella Redman of Waynesburg, and Doris Jean Morris of Waynesburg; 2 brothers: Sylvester Anderson of Fort Worth, Texas and Ronald Anderson of Lynnwood, Washington; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 14, 2023, in the Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home, Inc., 197 N. Maiden Street, Waynesburg, PA 15370, Shane M. Ayers, Director, where services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 15, 2023, with Pastor Sam Crawford officiating. Burial will be in Rosemont Cemetery, Rogersville, PA 15359
