James H. Kubiak, 92, of Cecil, formerly of Canonsburg, passed away peacefully, Thursday morning, September 14, 2023, in Victoria Manor, Oakdale.

He was born July 15, 1931, in Morgan, a son of the late John Joseph and Thelma Elizabeth Green Kubiak.

Mr. Kubiak had proudly served with the United States Air Force for 20 years, honorably discharged, as a Master Sergeant. He served for 14 years in overseas duties in the Philippines, Japan, Korea, Alaska, France, Turkey, Greenland and Vietnam, receiving numerous medals and service awards including, Presidential Citations during his active duty.

He had been an auto mechanic with Imperatore Ford from 1972 until 1981, when he became self-employed, working on cars at his residence for many years. An antique car buff, Jim collected Model A Fords, which he enjoyed restoring and driving.

Jim was an associate at Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services for over 25 years, doing everything from lawn maintenance and auto care to greeting guests and working funerals. He will be remembered for his hard work and sense of humor. Mr. Kubiak had been a member of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church, the Air Force Sergeants Association, VFW Post 191 of Canonsburg, VFW Post 927 of Washington and a Life member of both the VFW Post 553 in Strabane and the American Legion Post 902 in Houston.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his son, John D. (Debbie) Kubiak; his daughter, Cynthia Imhoff; his sister, Daisy Hoflichter; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to his parents, are his son, James Richard Kubiak; his sister, Alzira Vezzie; and his former wife, Anna Mae Deliere Kubiak.

Friends and family are welcome from 2 until 5 p.m. Monday, September 18, 2023, in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services Inc., Joseph P. Salandra LFD, owner / supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120. Interment with full Military Honors by the United States AirForce and the VFW Post 191 Honor Guard of Canonsburg, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 19, 2023, in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Cecil Township. Those attending please meet at the cemetery staging area by 9:50 a.m.
