Margaret Yarbough Cherpak Gamble Vinisky
Margaret Yarbough Cherpak Gamble Vinisky, 91, of Washington, passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2023, in Transitions Health Care.
She was born on April 11, 1932, in Avella, a daughter of the late Robert Yarbough and Helen Anna Mazur.
She was a 1951 graduate of Trinity High School.
Margaret was retired from Bobbie Brooks, where she worked as a seamstress.
Margaret suffered a fall, then a brain bleed, then dementia set in, causing her to forget most things. However, she always remembered memories of younger years, such as, when she and her mom rode the streetcar on Main St. in Washington and going to the old movie theater in Meadowlands. She was going strong at 90, and still driving.
Mrs. Vinisky was Jehovah’s Witness by faith, having been a member of the Washington Kingdom Hall in her early years, and later a member of Carmichaels Kingdom Hall.
She loved to work in her garden, sewing, cooking any kind of game animals, going to garage sales and Goodwill shopping with her daughter.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to her neighbor and special friend, Gary (Iona) Rodgers, who visited daily for six years, to check on her well-being; and for the exceptional care she received from her nurse at Transitions, Tammy Hixenbaugh, who made her last days comfortable. They would also like to thank the Transitions aids, Harley, Ashley, Rebecca, James, Brianna, Laterra, Susan and Carly, as well as the entire Hospice team.
Margaret was preceded in death by three husbands, Steve Cherpak, Dave Gamble and Jerome Vinisky.
Surviving are three children, Stephen (Linda) Cherpak, of Vanderbilt, Debbie (the late Erik Provance) Cherpak, of Washington, and Bonnie Russell, of Washington; a brother, Ralph Yarbough; three grandchildren, Lisa Day, Debra (Mark) Russell, and Wayne (Danielle) Russell; a special great grandson, Donavan Cherpak; a sister-in-law, Jackie Whitehill, of South Carolina; a brother-in-law, Gary Vinisky, of New York; and special friend, Frankie.
Deceased are a daughter, Sharon Ann Cherpak; and a grandson, Stevie Cherpak.
All services were private.
