David Daniel Faust, 89, of Washington, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family.

Dave was born the son of Charlotte Roy and Donald T. Faust, in New Kensington Hospital.

On September 1, 1962, he married the love of his life, Ann Minich, who survives, and whom he met while attending her brother’s wedding.

They have two sons, Donald (Tammy) and Michael (Stephanie); a grandson, Joshua Faust (Alison Crawford); and granddaughters: Joie Tarnik (John), Abby Faust, Julia Faust, and Rachel Faust. They also have great-grandsons, Houston Tarnik and Daniel Tarnik.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Carol Scott.

Dave was a 1951 graduate of Washington High School, where he played the trumpet in the band. He went on to graduate from W&J College in 1955, where he studied Economics. During that time, he played in some of the many popular “Big Bands” and developed a lifetime love of brass and horn music, attending multiple concerts of his favorite, The River City Brass Band. He passed this deep love of music onto to both of his sons.

He was employed by Mellon Bank, Fisher Scientific, Atlantic Aviation and Air Charter prior to his retirement.

Dave had a passion for flying airplanes and shared many memorable trips flying to Vero Beach, Florida with his family. He also enjoyed his time with numerous friends at the Dormont – Mt. Lebanon Sportsmen’s Club, particularly target shooting. He also greatly enjoyed his and Ann’s many trips, whether visiting the Western United States or sailing down the Danube River in Germany.

He was always quick with a joke. He loved a good meal, a good wine and telling a good story. Every member of his family was familiar with the preamble “Did I ever tell you about the time…?”

Friends and family will be received from 1 to 4 p.m., the time of service, on Monday, October 2, 2023, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, with Reverend Jude Urso officiating.

He will be greatly missed by all those who knew him.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that you donate in his memory to the charity of your choice.
