I received a very official looking envelope in the mail. It stated I had won this enormous amount of money, but I had to send a $20 processing fee to release it. The fee was to be paid by one of my checks.

A red flag!

If they have my personal information, Lord only knows what they will do with it. I already knew from the first line of the letter that it was a scam, but I worry about some of the unsuspecting people out there who would think it’s legitimate. These are tough times, it’s the holidays, and it is easy money.

I didn’t send my $20, but I am sure many people have and this company is raking in the bucks. They operate just a hair to the right of the law and reel in the unsuspecting public.

Be careful. Check with someone before you hand over hard-earned money.
