A suggestion to legislators

We have a suggestion to the legislators in Washington D.C. who are negotiating to escape from the “fiscal cliff” by removing or reducing the COLA for seniors: How about doing the same to the legislators rather than those who can ill-afford to lose that small increase?
Their cost-of-living increase is much higher, and they can afford it more readily than our elderly. My cost-of-living increase was very small and by the time I pay my supplemental health insurance, I am down to what I was receiving in 2012. This has nothing to do with Obamacare, which I feel has been a big improvement for all concerned.
The above suggestion could also apply to the state legislators. Some say that they return the monies or donate to a charity. If they donate, it is a write-off on their taxes.
