Every year I hear the same complaints about Black Friday sales being earlier and earlier, and these people are right.

Every year retailers start their Black Friday bonanza earlier and earlier. Yet in spite of all of the complaints, there are still shoppers who camp out hours before the doors open. Why wouldn’t the retailers open the doors earlier? The customers are there. The only way to stop the never-ending encroachment of Christmas into Thanksgiving? Stop showing up and shopping!

I’m sure if the Walmarts and Targets of the world opened their doors at 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving and found their parking lots empty, they would think twice about opening early next year! So if we want this retail tradition to end, we have to stop feeding the frenzy.
