Robinson Township was one of the first townships in Washington County to permit Marcellus Shale drilling sites, compressor stations and condensate transfer facilities. The residents of Robinson Church and Bigger roads have long endured the heavy truck traffic of this industry, as well as the additional hauling of tens of thousands of cubic yards of condensate contaminated soil from the Chevron spill at Robin Hill.

Now that Robinson Township will be the last township to receive a gas drilling impact fee, the residents would like the supervisors and the county commissioners to please consider the purpose of the fee. Before you commit to financing another covered bridge on a recreational bike trail, remember that the commuters of Bigger, Robinson Church and Kramer roads are still suffering through a five-mile dirt road detour caused by the closing of the Witherspoon Bridge several years ago. I am sure the joggers in Cecil and Peters and the skateboarders in McDonald would be understanding if you threw us a few crumbs for a change.
