I am writing this letter to thank the Monongahela Hill Cemetery Board for giving Jim Rumble, my father, the opportunity to raise funds to pave the roads at the cemetery. Without their willingness to attempt this project, my dad would not have been able to face that challenge and make this much needed project a reality. Knowing that the cemetery board is a non-profit and could not undertake the financial burden of this project, my dad felt compelled to at least try to make this happen and asked for permission to seek funding. I am happy to say almost $20,000 was raised in approximately six months. It all worked out well, and the cemetery looks beautiful. A majority of the funds came from local businesses and many residents made memorial contributions for their loved ones. Both the businesses and residents are to be commended for their willingness to give so generously. Without them, this project would not have been possible. It is a great feeling to know that there are so many giving, caring people in our community. As for my dad, there was never a doubt in my mind that he would make this project a reality. There has never been a time that he didn’t rise to a challenge and succeed. Thank you, Jim Rumble, for all that you have done for our community; this project is definitely one to be proud of.
