After keeping a doctor’s appointment in Peters Township the other day, I went to the post office in McMurray to mail an 8-by-12 envelope. During the transaction, the clerk attempted to sell me everything on the U.S. Postal Service menu, including an $18.95 guaranteed, next-day delivery for the envelope I wanted mailed. I went for the $1.10 first-class postage. The clerk, meanwhile, repeated a fast-paced sales pitch with every customer being served.
