Economy is a runaway train

The American people are finding that governing from ideas, however seemingly laudable, rather than realities is deepening the descent into impoverishment for its citizens, rather than helping it truly recover. As the federal government seeks to push the debt ceiling up further and to spend more money it doesn’t have, our nation’s impoverishment also deepens.

What a mournful prospect this is for a country that has always prided itself on industry, accomplishment and opportunity. The pursuit of biofuels and solar panels seems to parallel our dependency on food stamps, handouts and people seeking disability. Where will it all end?

When will other countries become tired of funding our excesses and waywardness and refuse our Treasury securities, recall our loans or demand more interest? After all, any repayment will be with a devalued currency – if that ever occurs. How arrogant we are just to print more money, as if there would never be an end to such a maneuver. Our economy is truly a runaway train and its crash will plunge us into an unimaginable dark age.

The energy arena in our country contains a vast wealth of potential jobs, innovation and growth. We have manufactured cars that create less pollution. Is it not possible to incentivize less-polluting coal, better uses for natural gas and the resources under our topsoil? Don’t we have a history of being able to do things better?

Instead, some people are getting rich on biofuels and alternative energy while the vast wealth and opportunity available in America is being held in a chokehold.
