I am writing this letter on behalf of the Mingo Cemetery located in Union Township. Our hats are off once again this year to the men and women of the Furlough Into Service (FITS) program of Washington County, which has nonviolent offenders leaving the county jail to work on projects in the community.

Our cemetery is a nonprofit organization and we have problems just keeping up with the grass cutting. With the help of the FITS workers, we were able to get the cemetery into a respectable condition for Memorial Day. The veterans buried in the cemetery deserve no less.

We hope the county can keep FITS operating for many years to come.
