Carmichaels High School’s Envirothon team finished fifth in the State Envirothon competition May 21 and 22 at Juniata College in Huntingdon, 56 points behind the winning team from York County Homeschool.
Now, fifth place is not bad at all, considering there were teams from 61 counties entered in the competition. But what really caught our attention was that this was the eighth year in a row a team from Carmichaels has placed in the top 10 at the state event.
The team’s best showing was second in both 2006 and 2010. Last year’s team also placed fifth and the lowest finish was in 2007 when the team came in 10th.
A first-place finish is waiting down the road, and we are confident it will come some day. But until it does, be proud of this accomplishment.
