I just finished reading the rant from Larry Douglas of Waynesburg that appeared in the Sunday edition of the Observer-Reporter. Douglas tried to get us all teary-eyed because some fat cat that owns a chain of Five Guys restaurants and is showing an annual profit of close to a half-million bucks is going to have to shell out 60 grand to provide health care for his employees.

It didn’t work! I’m not crying. I am, however, wondering why the cheapskate wasn’t already providing health care to his employees. You make me a millionaire, I will pay for your health care.

Oh, by the way, the guy you keep calling “Obama” is “President Obama” to those of us who were paying attention in civics class.

Since Douglas is so big on health care, I have some info for him on the subject. According to Science in the Public Interest, a Five Guys bacon cheeseburger with fries and a Coke will weigh in at a whopping 2,500 calories and a couple days worth of saturated fat! I can see why Douglas would go to bat for that pillar of our community.

Forget about the millions of Americans who will now have health care, forget about the gross injustices, like denying coverage to sick folks, that will be eliminated. Just relax knowing that if this poor, underprivileged millionaire closes his eight fatburger outlets many lives will be saved when they are forced to resort to a healthier diet.
