Drivers should stop for school buses

I would like to address all motor vehicle operators about their obligation to stop at a safe distance when a school bus is either loading or unloading school children on our roads.
If a vehicle doesn’t stop when a school bus activates its red flashing lights and driver’s-side stop sign, the bus driver, if possible, will get the make of the vehicle and its license plate number. This information will then be submitted to local or state police for review. If convicted of violating Pennsylvania’s law mandating that drivers stop for school buses, the operator will receive a 60-day driver’s license suspension, five points on their driving record, a $250 fine and have to pay court costs.
For the safety of our children, drivers should do their part and stop for school buses. It is the law.
