This is in response to last Friday’s editorial about being held hostage by a “fanatical mob” with the government shutdown.

There have been 53 debt limit increases since 1970. Out of those 27 increases, there have been attachments to 20 of them, most of them concerning the budget. Sixty percent of those attachments came from Democrats and 15 percent from Republicans. So you can see there have been negotiations by presidents.

The Democrats claim to have some sort of mandate. President Obama said he won the election, so the Affordable Care Act has been endorsed by the people. But the American people reject Obamacare by 56 percent, according to one poll. Based on this, Obamacare needs to be rejected.

That 56 percent of Americans should be offended by all the name-calling by Democrats. We have been called fanatics, arsonists, terrorists, anarchists and Nazis. To quote the editorial, “Our readers should be aware that our two members of the House of Representatives, Republicans Tim Murphy and Bill Shuster, are in lockstep with the hostage takers.” The term “lockstep” goes with the Nazis.

The Republican Party has been labeled the “party of no,” but when they are dealing with the “party of childish behavior,” what else can you expect?

You love to blame the tea party for everything, but what about the far left of the Democratic Party? The tea party stands for the U.S. Constitution, the law of the land. What do the Democrats stand for?

You are right about one thing – we are being held hostage by a fanatical group. You just blamed the wrong party.
