I would like to reply to your editorial “Science Shouldn’t Be Watered Down.”

Genesis 1:1 states: “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” This book, which is the first book in the Bible, goes on in later verses to tell how He created everything on the earth. I believe that only a God who is omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient could create all of the complex things that exist in this universe in which we live.

I was taught the theory of evolution in high school and college back in the 1950s and 1960s and, as you say, it is still the bedrock of modern science, but it is not the premise from which ALL scientists conduct their work. There have always been a few courageous individuals who have studied the empirical evidence available and who do not subscribe to the theory of evolution.

As I sit up here on my ridge sometimes in the evening and observe all the beautiful trees, flowers, birds and animals that God created for us to enjoy, watch the sun set so magnificently in the western sky, and gaze up in the starry heavens after dark, my faith in God is increased. One day, when it is His time, I will go out of this world to be with Jesus in heaven. Where will those who deny God and refuse to believe His word go?
