War, what is it good for?

What a pickle we find ourselves in these days. The economy is flat. Our infrastructure is in poor shape. We can’t provide health care, decent education, or safety for our own people. Yet there he is. The Secretary of State trotting the globe on his “Bombathon 2013” world tour.
I find it strange that John Kerry is charged with this task. I always thought that he or any Secretary of State was America’s top diplomat, and his department was committed to diplomacy and conflict resolution. I guess not.
I propose a new cabinet level position – the Secretary of Aggressive War. This person would be in charge of killing people and spending money that we do not have. Egged on and financed by the military/industrial/congressional complex, this person would not have to lie at any time. The name of the position says it all. That leaves the Secretary of Defense free to defend us, and the Secretary of State free to be a diplomat.
I wrote many letters excoriating President Bush for foolish and destructive military campaigns. I now condemn President Obama with equal vigor. The party they belong to makes no matter. The use of American military power to strike countries that are no threat to our shores is immoral and illegal.
