After reading the article Friday about a candidate being thrown off the ballot in the Donora mayor’s race, the first thought that came to mind was, “Welcome to Washington County!”

After giving it more serious thought, I came up with a possible solution to this dilemma. Don Pavelko, the candidate who lost his spot on the ballot, needs to contact the U.S. Postal Service and have the paperwork he mailed to the election office traced. They should be able to tell the exact date it was delivered.

The election office has in the past found absentee ballots that have allowed them to change the outcome of an election. I believe the results of tracking this particular piece of mail from the postal service could prove to be interesting.
