Why a roundabout?

I just read about roundabout on Route 519 that will cost between $3 million and $5 million.

Why?

This is a stupid idea. A stop light would be a lot cheaper and our tax money would be better spent on bridge and road repair, not to mention the loss of home and property? Accidents can and do happen any place, any time, and not just at this intersection.
