I wholeheartedly agree with the letter written by Tom Galownia published in the Thursday edition of the Observer-Reporter. Pennsylvania does not know how to build roads.

And, on another subject concerning our highways, Washington County’s PennDOT office does a very poor job of maintaining the roads as far as potholes and litter go. Our highways have not been swept. The cinders from last winter are everywhere and, before long, PennDOT will be using more cinders.

We spend lots of money on television ads promoting tourism in Washington County, and that’s fine. However, it would be nice if visitors to this area found a clean and well-maintained countryside.

Shame on PennDOT! Shame also on the litterbugs!
