On Sunday, I went to the gym for workout and swim.

Upon entering the pool area, only a young boy taking a swimming lesson was in one of the lanes. His parents sat at the side of the pool. Neither of them looked up toward their son. Not once!

Something more “important” had them transfixed. Their eyes were glued to their smart phones. They didn’t even converse with each other, never taking their eyes from their phones.

I began my swim, and after I was done I again looked across to where the parents were sitting. Their child was still in the water with his instructor, and his parents were still staring at their phones.

Well, at least they brought him.
