I had to reread the letters Sunday responding to the newspaper’s editorial on the Super Bowl Coca-Cola ad a few times, because I could not believe what I was reading. In a word, they were absurd.

The language we use today and call “English” or “American” was adapted from the British and Scottish colonizing the land of the Native Americans in the 1600s. As more and more people immigrated here for the opportunity to work and build this country, words from their languages became a part of our language.

The actual fact is our country has never once been bound by one language, but built and united with the use of many different languages.
