Wrong lessons taught on hunting

I do congratulate Zachery Johnston on his prowess at hunting and shooting, as detailed in the Feb. 10 edition of the Observer-Reporter. However, I do feel that taking him to a hunting lodge in Texas, where animals, some of whom are endangered species, is teaching the wrong kind of lesson where animals are concerned.

These animals are raised purely to be hunted in a far-from-wild venue. To me, this is not hunting. It especially bothers me that this includes animals that are endangered.

Would it not be better if he were taught to respect wildlife and not be encouraged to “hunt” those that may become extinct in the wild, especially in this type of setting?
