It was with joy that I read the story on the front page of the Feb. 6 edition, “CVS plans to halt sales of tobacco.”

I am a non-smoker, but anything anyone can do to help curb smoking must be considered a feather in their cap. With CVS, it would be interesting to look at their losses from just one store that no longer sells tobacco products, no less the entire chain.

As of now, I am not a CVS customer. However, my now former drugstore needs to take note. Being an enabler by selling cigarettes has caused me, and I trust dozens of others, to seek a drugstore that operates for the good of the public and not just for profit.

Let’s see who else will step up to the plate.
