I recently attended a wrestling tournament at Chartiers Houston High School. Shortly after entering their gymnasium, I saw a constable approaching anyone with a water bottle and asking them to take the bottle out. They were not drinking the water, but merely had the bottle with the lid secured.

Then an announcement was made that absolutely no beverages or food were allowed in the gymnasium and this included the wrestlers. I and other irate parents complained. We were told it was a district policy for their facility. It took many complaints, but finally the student wrestlers were allowed water inside the gym.

The Chartiers Houston School District should be ashamed for making their facility more important than the safety and welfare of student athletes. It seems to me they have forgotten for whom this facility was built.
