Seeing the photo of the Washington Trust Building in the Jan. 9 edition of the Observer-Reporter brought back some good and some not-so-good memories.

In 1940, I had my tonsils and adenoids removed in a doctor’s office in the Washington Trust Building. I was the last child on the agenda, and my mother passed out because there was so much ether in the room.

Later in life, I worked in the Washington Trust Building as a telephone operator. It was one of the best jobs I ever had.
