In Wednesday’s paper, one article on the front page announced that the Chartiers-Houston Community library is in danger of closing. This is because the Chartiers-Houston School District appears unable to make it’s annual donation of $50,000 to the library.

On the same page of the paper, there was another article about Chartiers Township collecting impact fees from the Marcellus Shale gas activity. This article stated that the township has collected fees totaling about $1.9 million over three years. The article said that in 2014 it has collected $608,011 so far.

I see no problem with the township helping fund the library from this large windfall.

Save the Chartiers-Houston Community Library.
