The Canon-McMillan School District wants to move 24 children from Cecil Elementary School, along with others in the district who live less than half-a-mile from the school to Hills Henderson Elementary School, which is at least a 20-minute bus ride away.

Then to make it better, they plan to move students from Muse Elementary School into Cecil Elementary School to fill the open spots. This means more bus transportation will be needed.

On what planet does this make any sense? The students they are looking to move can walk to school. Why on earth would you move kids who are so close to a school and let all of the new developments push them out? This is something that should be considered when a new housing development is being considered, not once it is in full swing.

The worst part of the whole thing is how it was very quietly approached and did not come to light until rumors leaked out. It is amazing that school board members elected by the public can then turn around and completely go against the same voting public.
