I rarely watch the news and one of the reasons is the type of behavior that was displayed in Ferguson, Mo. Monday night – complete disrespect for others, innocent or not, black or white.

To disperse is to “scatter or to cause to vanish” in Webster’s Dictionary. The moment the grand jury finding was announced, young people ran down the street and within five minutes there were broken windshields, gun shots, looting and vandalism. I didn’t agree with the O.J. Simpson jury decision in 1995, but I didn’t consider it my right to throw a brick through the jewelry store window and take a Rolex when I wasn’t satisfied with the decision.

I’m saddened that people would do these things to their own community. I’m saddened that this seems to be the only way that some people can feel they’re acting positively with their own lives.
