There is a tax increase that I believe should be approved and that’s the two-mill increase for the Chartiers-Houston Community Library.

It is a very worthwhile organization geared entirely to the community. My wife took our children there many times for programs and books. If my grandchildren lived close by, they would be frequenting it as well. What I don’t understand is why the Chartiers-Houston School District cut the funding from the library. It’s not like they don’t have the money. My school taxes went up 18 percent this year. The timing of this 2-mill increase is unfortunate when we have an individual running for governor who has emphatically stated he will increase taxes. To put the icing on the cake, I went to Tom Wolf’s web site to learn about his platform and they trapped my identification and sent me an email message asking me to support his agenda. Imagine a millionaire asking me for $5. Naturally, I felt compelled to respond, but instead of sending a millionaire $5, I will make a contribution to the library.
