An error appeared in the March 26 article about the Peters Creek Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Venetia. The article states that when the church vacates its current location on Brookwood Road and holds its last service today, “It will also mark the end of 220 years of continuous worship at the location.”

This statement is false. Peters Creek United Presbyterian Church will resume its worship services there as soon as the Peters Creek Evangelical Presbyterian Church discontinues worship in the structure. A representative from the Washington Presbytery, the local governing body of the Presbyterian Church (USA) will be contacting newspapers in the near future, as soon as exact times for services have been confirmed with all of the key persons involved. As always, all people will be welcome to attend.

As a member of Peters Creek United Presbyterian Church and this neighborhood for over 30 years, I am saddened by the long and difficult process which has brought us to this point. I am, however, encouraged by the fact that the property, which has been a Presbyterian church since 1795, will carry on as part of the Presbyterian Church (USA), a national organization that provides the best hope for continuing its presence in the community for another 200 years.
