McDonald’s should close on Christmas

A few nights ago, I went to a drive-thru window of a McDonald’s restaurant for a burger. There was a sign posted with the store’s holiday hours. It said the store would be open all day, every day from Thanksgiving to New Year’s Day.

McDonald’s could have been to be a leader in their industry and closed Christmas Day. McDonald’s officials might counter with the argument that they are busy on Christmas, and are therefore providing a service to the community, and their employees also need the income.

They do this at the expense of their staff. One of the largest fast-food chains can well afford to dip into its massive marketing budget and close on this important family day.
