Where does it stop?

The Canon-McMillan School District has announced a proposal to raise taxes. Why? Pension funding. The commonwealth needs to raise taxes for pension funding, the federal government needs to raise taxes for pensions and I’m sure my township will at some point also need to raise taxes for pensions.

So you and I are required by law to pay more money in taxes so others can retire. But yet my self-funded retirement is my responsibility and is determined by the lifestyle we are planning in the future. If my plan fails, it is on me.

But if public pensions slip in any way, the money can be recouped by taxpayers. Where does it stop? This is not a union-negotiated thing, or a Republican or Democratic thing. This is an honest, responsible and correct thing.
