No way to treat former employees

I worked for Consol Energy for 47 years and have been retired for 22 years. I started with the Pittsburgh Coal Company in 1946, which then became Consolidation Coal Company and now Consol Energy. I always thought it was a good company to work for, but I am now disappointed in how they are treating their retirees.

For all these years that I worked for and was retired from the company, I paid the medical and life insurance premiums faithfully and on time. In 2013, I was notified that Consol Energy was cancelling my medical insurance effective Dec. 31, 2013 and setting up a Health Reimbursement Account (HRA). The amount for this account was $175, to be used for medical expenses throughout the year. Thankfully I was able to afford supplemental insurance from another plan.

Then, I received a letter dated June 16 stating that my HRA and my life insurance policy will be cancelled as of Dec. 31.

This is no way to treat dedicated former employees. At my age of 87 years-old, it is financially impossible for me to obtain life insurance. The only way I can benefit from this is to die before the end of the year.
