Within the last 10 years, there have been many changes in Mt. Pleasant Township. Looking back, we are reminded of a lack of jobs and funding for community projects. During those years, Mt. Pleasant Township had slow progress compared to surrounding areas, but there was little hope and even some despair.

Now, Mt. Pleasant Township is known as the birthplace of the Marcellus Shale revolution. Range Resources came to our area and created opportunities that did not exist prior to the company’s presence. There are new businesses, and enhancements to existing businesses. Also, Act 13, Pennsylvania’s oil and gas drilling law, will provide our township with impact fees for our leaders to enhance this area.

“Drilling done right” is what Mt. Pleasant Township and Range Resources, working cooperatively, will achieve. Our community will have an opportunity to set an example for other communities, and create a more progressive future.

Mt. Pleasant Township has a large percentage of landowners under lease with Range Resources. Our community should put out a welcome mat for Range Resources, and work together for the betterment of everyone.
