Umbrage taken at editorial

I must take umbrage with the editoral in Sunday’s paper on “offensive politicians,” first, for its cheap shot at U.S. Sen. John McCain, and second, for its not facing the realities of current events.
McCain neither came up with the “Bomb Iran” song, nor popularized it. The song “Bomb Iraq” was written by Malcolm Higgins, who is a satirical writer, and it was Rush Limbaugh who popularized this song by playing it ad nauseam, I believe, during Desert Storm.
As for not facing realities, you were completely off-base with equating any past conflict with the possibility of war with Iran over its nuclear goals or ISIS. There is absolutely no comparison between World War I, where competing forces – French, English, Germans, and later Americans – were roughly of common cultures, to that of Iran, which has stated its intention to kill all Jews and wipe the nation of Israel off the map.
ISIS, and those who would fight for them, are subhuman. I say that not in an attempt to demonize them. They prove that by their actions. They burn alive men, women, and children, and celebrate mass beheadings. They enslave female children, rape them, and sell them on the open market. They do this in religious zeal. Your political correctness has blinded you to the seriously crazed fascism and evil that must by eradicated by civilized societies coming together throughout the world. I can add that it likely will not succeed without significant American leadership. I don’t believe that can wait until America elects a president that sees the world as it is, not as he fantasies.
